Samsung Washer Error Codes
What each code on a Samsung washer display means, what you can safely check yourself, and when it needs a technician. Codes differ between model years: the list for your exact model is on the sticker inside the door or lid, or in the manual.
First, for any code: unplug the washer for one minute (or switch off its breaker) and start a short cycle. If the code comes back, use the table below.
| Code | What it means | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 4C / 4E / 4C2 | Water supply problem — the washer cannot fill in time (4C2: hot water connected to the cold inlet). | Open both water valves, straighten the hoses, clean the inlet screens. |
| 5C / 5E / SE | Drain problem — water does not leave the tub in time. | Clean the debris filter behind the bottom-front panel; check the drain hose for kinks. |
| UB / UE / Ub | Unbalanced load. | Redistribute the load; level the washer. If it repeats with normal loads, the suspension or shocks are worn. |
| dC / dE / DC / dS | Door or lid open or not locking. | Close the door firmly, clear anything caught in the latch; repeated codes mean the door lock. |
| LC / LE / LE1 | Water leak detected in the base, or a water level problem. | Turn off the water and check under the washer; call us — it is a leak, not a setting. |
| 3C / 3E | Motor or motor sensor fault. | Unplug for a minute and restart; if it returns, it needs a technician. |
| HC / HE / HE1 | Heating problem — water too hot or not heating. | Check the hot/cold hoses are not reversed; otherwise the heater or temperature sensor. |
| tC / tE | Temperature sensor fault. | Needs a sensor check. |
| 1C / 1E | Water level sensor fault. | Needs a pressure sensor and hose check. |
| OF / OE | Overfilling. | Turn off the water; usually the inlet valve or the level sensor. |
| Sud / SUd / 5d | Too many suds — not a failure. | Use HE detergent and less of it; let the cycle continue. |
| nF / nF1 | No fill on some models. | Same checks as 4C. |
